It is the first question almost every company asks when requesting a quote, and the honest answer is that price does not depend on how long the video is, but on how many days you have to shoot, with how many people, and how much work comes afterwards. A 2-minute video can cost USD 1,000 or USD 8,000 and both figures can be correct.
Reference ranges in the Peruvian market
These are the orders of magnitude used today in Lima and the regions. They are not fixed rates: they let you judge whether a proposal is reasonable.
- Simple piece: USD 800 – 1,600. One shooting day, one location, one or two interviews, editing with library music. The standard for a company presentation video.
- Full corporate video: USD 1,600 – 4,000. One or two days, several locations, drone, lighting, colour grading, graphics and professional voice-over.
- National-scale institutional video: USD 4,000 – 11,000 or more. Several cities, travel and crew logistics, field production, animation and versions in more than one language.
- 60 to 90 second motion graphics: USD 650 – 2,100, depending on illustration level and whether there are characters.
What pushes the budget up or down
- Shooting days. This is factor number one. Each day adds crew, rentals, transport and catering.
- Locations and travel. Shooting in a single office is nothing like shooting across three regions.
- Crew size. A video can be made by one person or a crew of eight. It shows in the image and in the price.
- Talent. Actors, models or a well-known voice artist are quoted separately, and their contract defines how long you may use the material.
- Animation. This is the line item that scales fastest: every animated second is manual work.
- Music and archive. A library licence costs tens of dollars; a well-known song, thousands.
- Versions. Vertical social cuts, subtitles, dubbing into other languages. The most profitable thing to request up front and the most expensive to add at the end.
What a serious quote must state
Before comparing prices, check that the proposals cover the same ground: number of shooting days, hours per day, crew assigned, how many rounds of changes are included, whether the music carries a commercial licence, which delivery formats are provided and who keeps the raw footage. Two quotes with the same figure can be completely different projects.
How to pay less without losing quality
- Bundle. If you need four videos this year, shoot them on the same day. Cost per piece drops sharply.
- Arrive with a written brief. Most overruns come from changes of direction mid-project.
- Define versions at the start. Planning the vertical format is cheaper than cropping it later.
- Use what you already have. Archive footage, existing photos and graphics cut shooting hours.
One warning: a quote well below the range usually means half a day, a single camera, no insurance, no music licence and no rounds of changes. It is not cheaper; it is less project.
